Important Venice transfer note

Venice has no normal road traffic inside the historic center. Buses, taxis and private car transfers stop at Piazzale Roma, the main road-accessible arrival point in Venice.

From Piazzale Roma, you can walk to nearby hotels or continue by Vaporetto (Venice’s public water bus) or water taxi, depending on where your accommodation is located.

The cheapest connection from Venice Airport to the city

The cheapest options are the ATVO Express Bus and the ACTV Public Bus. Both cost 10 € for a one-way airport ticket and take you to Piazzale Roma.

The Express Bus is usually the better choice for most travelers because it runs directly to Piazzale Roma without intermediate city stops.

The fastest connection from Venice Airport to the center

Taxi and Welcome Pickups are the fastest options to Piazzale Roma or the cruise terminal, with a journey time of around 20–25 minutes.

If your hotel is inside the historic center and close to a canal landing point, a Private Water Taxi can be the fastest and most comfortable door-to-door style option, usually around 30 minutes by water.

Transport from Venice Airport at night

Venice Marco Polo Airport has late arrivals and early departures, and public transport is still available during late evening hours, although frequencies are lower than during the day. The ATVO Express Bus to Piazzale Roma continues to run until shortly after midnight (last departures typically around 00:20–01:10).

For most travelers, the ATVO Express Bus is the best combination of price, speed and simplicity if you can continue from Piazzale Roma to your accommodation easily.

If your hotel is located deeper inside Venice, Alilaguna or a Shared Water Taxi can be more convenient because you arrive by water and avoid carrying luggage over too many bridges.
